If you played Jotun in the past, or recently, you will most likely know that the developers behind the game goes by the name Thunder Lotus Games. Well, if you enjoyed the dev’s previous game the team has a new title in the works entitled Sundered. The latest hand-drawn project by Thunder Lotus Games is set to hit PC and PS4 in 2017.
Just as I expected, indie-like games always have to sport the tag “procedural world”. Aside from randomly generated maps and sporting the ever growing genre of “metroidvania”, the project holds some otherwise interesting merits of its own.
Assuming the role of Eshe, who’s a wanderer in a ruined world, players must traverse through a series of ever-changing locations/caverns to escape the horrors of giant beasts.
Other features that Sundered will display are multiple endings. I’m not sure how players will go about achieving these different endings, but if older games are of any indication you will most likely have to retrieve certain items or defeat specific bosses to unlock them.
Anyways, the official description is up for those who are curious about Sundered:
“Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a hand-drawn epic from the creators of Jotun. You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever-changing caverns teeming with eldritch horrors. Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the cost of your humanity.”
The game will also feature “corrupted relics” to defeat enemies in the game. I assume that in the bulleted list on the game’s main site showing “corruptible powers” means that you can change abilities around or upgrade them — but I’m not entirely sure.
