Celestial Breach hit Steam Greenlight early this month during October, and successfully passed through the voting segment on the platform. As of now, publisher Dark Nebulae and what I assume to be a lone developer that goes by the name Captain Dodge, just updated the community to let them know that the PC game will release early next year on January 2nd.
If you fell in love with Afterburner and seek to play something similar to the classic game but in 3D, I think Celestial Breach is a good Sci-Fi alternative to the 1987 arcade game. And with Celestial Breach set to come out less than three months on Steam Early Access, you can catch up on what the game has to offer by reading its official description.
“Celestial Breach is a Coop arcade flight game in a Sci-Fi setting, Focused on team play VS NPC. It contains a lot of the old school arcade flight sim components, while being refreshing by focusing on cooperation and adding more exotic weapons, abilities, and Gameplay mechanics.”
After hearing the music for one of the trailers in Celestial Breach, for some reason, I got vibes from both the original theme that played in Afterburner and a bit of Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed Carrier Zone mix, too. Anyways, getting back on track, the first trailer for the game can be seen below.
Nevertheless, we also get two more updated videos along with the trailer above. We get to see the lobby screen, picking weapons, changing ship colors and flying around.
Something that is not shown in the videos below — but only mentioned in the description for Celestial Breach — is that there will be segments in a mission like act 1, 2, 3 and so on. However, if you die in a later mission you will have to restart from the very beginning of the game, meaning that you will need to master each stage to take as little damage as possible.
The two new videos still show some rough edges that are present in the game, but so far Celestial Breach is shaping up nicely to be a Greenlight product. You can check out the videos courtesy of Celestial Breach channel.
Celestial Breach is set to come out on January 2nd, 2017, and will be for PC. For more information on the game’s development and what to expect later down the road, you can hit up Steam’s Update Page or celestial breach.com.
