Aqua Moto Racing Utopia New Release Dates Set For PC, PS4

Aqua Moto Racing, the upcoming 3D throwback to the Nintendo 64 racing game Wave Race 64 just received a new set of release dates for both PC and PS4 in America and Europe.

The game will launch on the PS4 in Europe on November 30th. The game will launch in North America on the PS4 starting November 29th. And the Steam version of the game on PC will graduate from Early Access on November 30th.

Originally, Zordix had plans on releasing the game a week earlier, but due to the unpredictable nature of game development, the game was delayed by a week.

Aqua Moto Racing Utopia features 10 different locations to visit, 50 different challenge courses, a stunt mode, a race mode, a single-player career mode, local multiplayer challenges, online multiplayer challenges, keyboard and mouse support, controller support, avatar customization and various party modes.

I was given a preview code for the game to test out the early versions, but there were some technical hurdles that prevented me from really sinking my teeth into the game. After several large updates, however, the Early Access version of the game was brought up to playable standards, with better multi-monitor support, controller support and playability.

If you need to snag a look at what the gameplay is like you can check it out in the trailer below.

The game doesn’t just remind me of Wave Rave 64, though. Some of the stages and handling actually rekindled some gameplay similitude with JetMoto, another classic racing series from the fifth generation of gaming.

The controls are smooth enough and the graphics are definitely more than passable. If you enjoyed games like Riptide GP from Vector Unit, then you’ll likely feel right at home with Aqua Moto Racing Utopia. Of course, you don’t get the futuristic racing tracks from Riptide GP but that doesn’t make it any less entertaining.
