Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- Launches On Steam With Console Exclusive DLC

Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- has finally launched on PC through the Steam storefront, available for the digital price point of $49.99. The first week of the game being on sale sees it discounted by 10% off.

Alternatively, you can get the complete One Dawn Bundle featuring all of the game’s previously released DLC for $64.99, including Johnny, Jack-O’, Jam Kuraoberi, Kum Haehyun, Raven and Dizzy. This also comes with 2014 Sound Live archives, with 11 tracks from the Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator soundtrack.

The visually stunning had a graphics engine built from the ground up that hooked into the Unreal Engine 3, allowing Arc System Works to use per pixel rendering to generate anime-like shading and outlines for each of the characters so that the game looked like a hand-drawn anime.

However, they didn’t stop there. One of the key features that makes animes stand out is how they utilize key frames to highlight specific animations so that they look dynamic and awe-inducing – something that 3D animation and motion capture have a difficult time in achieving (like how the newer Berserk animes throw in CGI and it instantly clashes with the classic hand-drawn style). For Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-, they cut out the animation frames filled in between key-frames, so that the 3D animations only had the characters moving according to the frames that the animators would have used had they been hand-drawn. This ensured that the characters were as fast and as responsive as the standard Guilty Gear 2D fighting games, removing frame-lag and deferred input latency due to said frame-lag.

The hard work of Arc System Works paid off, making Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- one of the most visually stunning fighting games made in the last generation. You can see what the gameplay looks like with the trailer below.

There is all sorts of textual spillage of fanboyism taking place in the review section on the Steam page. Rightfully so, this is one of the most gorgeous games out there, period.

The fighting is praised, the port is praised, the gameplay is praised. And with Steam recently receiving native DualShock 4 support, you should be able to plug-and-play Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- with your PS4 controller without any problems.

You can get your hands on the game right now for $49.99 from over on the Steam store. For further information you can also visit the official website.
