Mass Effect: Andromeda Trailer Tours Tempest, Mining Drones, Custom Nomad

The latest trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda covers the game’s vehicles, the Tempest and the Nomad. The Tempest is the player’s new scout ship that they’ll be using to find humanity a new home amongst the stars. The Nomad is the all-terrain rover that players will use to scout the surface of the planets.

The trailer is three minutes long, kicking off with a short cinematic of the Tempest in action. We then begin to see a tour of the various ship’s quarters, ranging from the R&D department to the captain’s quarters. You can check out the video below, courtesy of MathChief.

They promise that a lot of the new gear you obtain in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be acquired through “discovery”. So it sounds like it’s going to be a fairly large, fairly expansive adventure that stretches a good way across the known and unknown cosmos.

The video room, medbay, cargo bay, and engineering room are also showcased. From there we get a quick look at the Nomad rover, which can be utilized to scout the planet’s surface with either six or four wheel drive. The Nomad comes with lateral thrusters for propulsion and vertical thrusters to clear tight spots or reach new areas.

Mass Effect Andromeda: Nomad Customization

The trailer also reveals customization abilities in Mass Effect: Andromeda for the Nomad, including different paint jobs, upgrades for life support systems, new thrusts, and improved engines. Some of the customizable liveries look pretty cool.

There’s definitely some good possibilities in terms of playability-scope for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but all of it will depend on how cohesive the story is to the gameplay, and how solid the actual gameplay is.

We also learn that resources for building materials and upgrading gear can also be gained by placing down mining drones on planets. The drones will automatically siphon the resources for you and open up new crafting and upgrade possibilities.

Now some gamers are quite leery about Mass Effect: Andromeda due to some of the racist ratings by one of the game designers, which has led to gamers petitioning for the designer to be fired for his racist rants. Others, however, are simply looking forward to the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda on March 21st for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
