Those who are enjoying playing hours worth of Rainbow Six Siege will most likely be excited to hear that not only will the FPS team-shooter gain a new operator and stage, but the game’s release dates for Operation Velvet Shell and the Free Weekend will be dropping soon this February.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 2’s first and upcoming operation will go by the name of Operation: Velvet Shell. The new map called Coastline will bring, from the looks of it, CQC in bright lit areas located in a nightclub set in Ibiza. As of now, folks who play the team-based shooter regularly will already know about the new operator The Jackal, who will also make an appearance. The new operator and map will be joining the growing roster of characters and maps that are already present in the game, which the new operator The Jackal and map Coastline will go live starting on February 7th, 2017.
If you are wondering where this information comes from, Ubisoft made an announcement recently over on its main site. If you haven’t seen the trailer for the new operator you can check out the quick preview trailer showing his ability to track other operators’ footsteps, as seen below.
In case you haven’t caught it, The Jackal will be equipped with the C7E and the PDW9 as primary weapons, and as secondary weapons he will sport the ITA 12S and the USP 40.
Something worth pointing out for those who are new to the scene, the new Velvet Shell map will be free to all players, but any new character won’t be — instead the characters will only be available to those who happen to have purchased the Year 2 season pass. If you don’t have the Year 2 season pass you can unlock any new character by using the currency rewarded to players in-game to earn them.
Aside from The Jackal, another operator is set to join the ever expanding list of operators, which Ubisoft will announce sometime this week.
Rainbow Six Siege is already out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and will be free to play starting on February 2nd to February 5th. You can learn more regarding this game by hitting up rainbow6.ubi.com.
