Clone Drone In The Danger Zone Officially Enters Steam Early Access

Doborg Games announced today that Clone Drone in the Danger Zone has officially entered into Early Access on Steam. The game has been in development for a while now, situated on itch.io as they worked to iron out some the more glaring kinks and prepped it for launch on Valve’s digital distribution service.

The game sees players in charge of a clone of a drone, as it attempts to battle through a series of increasingly difficult arena deathmatch battles. It’s a little bit like Running Man (with Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Firepower (with Gary Daniels) fused together with… robots.

As the arena battles continue to increase in difficulty, additional options for upgrading and improving your robot become available, including buying clones to continue the fight in case you die; because once you die… that’s it. Game over.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the video below courtesy of YouTuber Blitzkriegsler.

There’s a story mode where you attempt to battle through each of the levels in order to earn your freedom, and endless mode where you fight through 86 different level variants involving five different difficulty tiers, a challenge mode where the weapons and power-ups are limited, and a Twitch Mode, where you can incorporate your Twitch chat groups and viewers into the actual gameplay.

In addition to the game modes, upgrades and combat features, there’s also more than 7,000 spoken lines of dialogue from the two robot commentators, making snide remarks as you progress (or fail) through the game.

The Early Access version will be feature incomplete. They plan on finishing up the story mode, adding in more stability, fixing known bugs and glitches, as well as add more content leading up to the full release of the game.

So when does Clone Drone in the Danger Zone actually release? Well, according to the Steam store page, they plan on staying in Early Access up until the end of 2017.
