Here’s The Current State Of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Coming To PS4 And Xbox One

There’s no doubt that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a very popular game on PC, topping Steam’s Top Sellers list with 67,000 plus concurrent players and pulling in more than $10 million in the first week of release. This success has a lot of people on PS4 and Xbox One wanting in on the fun and, although some may think it will never come to consoles, in a recent interview shedding light on the Battle Royale game, it covers the progress of PUBG coming to consoles.

Before jumping into the recent interview that publisher and developer Bluehole took up with another publication site, there has been talk that the game has been scrapped for console players and that it won’t be coming to PS4 and Xbox One. However, a video covering and proving that it is indeed in the works and the latest progress of the console version of the game known as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sits below thanks to YouTuber GalactixJR.

Looking over to the recent interview that Bluehole took up with Invenglobal, we learn that when Project Director Changhan Kim was asked about the game’s current Early Access state and console version’s progress he replied that…

“There’s one thing I’m concerned about though. Some people may not understand how Early Access works and think that Battlegrounds is a finished game. I’ve received so much feedback asking us why the final release of the game has so many bugs. I want to make it clear that Battlegrounds hasn’t officially launched yet. People who play the game in Early Access are supporting us in the development process. Also, please keep in mind that those who opt for Early Access will have the full retail version at launch.

To elaborate on Choi’s comment about other Early Access games, some developers release their games on Early Access, only to abandon them somewhere down the line. It’s understandable that people are worried that we’ll go down the same path. Let me assure you that it couldn’t be further from the truth. we’ll keep polishing the game for release this summer. Since we’re also working on the console version, it’s really awkward for us to postpone any longer than that.”

In addition to the console version being worked on as we speak, the publication site followed up on that and asked how the console version is coming along? Here’s the direct reply that Kim gave:

“There’s something called the Xbox Preview Program, which is basically Early Access for Xbox. We’re hard at work adding the finishing touches to the game there. It’ll be out on both PlayStation and Xbox.”

If you want more information on the Xbox Preview Program and what this means for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds you can head on over to support.xbox.com to learn more regarding said program.

Lastly, over on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsofficial forum board reveals that the game will sport VR support thanks to a certain user named Tykjen looking through the game’s files:

“There is an oculus rift folder within the Battlegrounds game folder When I asked about it, the community manager told me VR support will be implemented down the line. Cant wait for that day!”

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is out now for PC via Steam Early Access for $29.99, and will later hit PS4 and Xbox One through the Xbox Preview Program sometime soon.
