Raiders Of The Broken Planet Dev Diary Details Asymmetric Antagonist Mode

A new developer diary was released for Raiders of the Broken Planet. The developer diary starts with a cinematic and then moves on to talking about the antagonists in Raiders of the Broken Planet.

One of the main enemies is a demon of sorts that can mimic players and disrupt their missions. What makes this interesting is that players will be able to take on the roles of either the Raiders or the antagonists.

You can check out how they have plans to implement the Raider and antagonist dynamic.

The whole enemy dynamic is a little like Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve, where it’s an asymmetric 1-vs-4 experience. However, the player taking on the role of the antagonist will be working with enemy NPCs controlled by the AI. The NPCs will populate each of the maps and will have their own behavior and properties, very similar to the way the AI operates the foes in Warframe. In fact, the NPCs and gameplay looks very similar to that of Digital Extremes’ Warframe.

The big difference is that if you get bored playing through the campaign mode, you can also choose to play against other players, and prevent them from progressing in the campaign mode.

If you decide to just play through the standard mode without being dickish about it, you can team up with three other friends and attempt to beat the story mode playing as a Raider team. You’ll blast through AI opponents and attempt to complete each of the missions in succession, just like Warframe.

There are various playable Raiders in the game, each with their own abilities and skills, and their own unique play-styles.

Gameplay wise Raiders of the Broken Planet looks like a solid third-person shooter. It’s not too big and not too small. You can sign up for the closed beta test right now by visiting the official website.

MercurySystem is currently working on the project independently. They have plans on releasing the game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
