Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, 3D Beat-‘Em-Up Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

Saber Interactive announced that the beat-’em-up title starring NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal that was crowdfunded a while back called Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, will be making its way soon to the Nintendo Switch.

The announcement came courtesy of a trailer that showcases some of the new gameplay for Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, including some of the power-ups that Shaq can utilize and some of his upgrades that he can acquire. You can check out the trailer below.

The game looks pretty decent for what it is. Originally Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn made its appearance over on IndieGoGo back in early 2014. They managed to raise over $450,000 to develop the game and have been slowly and quietly working on the title ever since.

Back in December of 2016, developer Oliver Hollis-Leick posted an update over on IndieGoGo indicating that they were 99% complete with the development of the game and that they were prepping for certification, writing…

“As we approach the end of 2016 we are delighted to announce that the game is very close to completion. We had a few changes to implement and have been quality testing and getting all the ratings certificates but we’re 99% there. It’s so great to see and hear all the work of the various contributors in the game. The voices, faces and artwork all look and sound fantastic.”

Apparently they decided to delay the game so it could release on the Nintendo Switch.

They don’t have an exact release date but it’s apparently coming soon.

Originally they had plans on releasing the title on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but smart money would say that a Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC release would be the better way to go.

Hopefully they’ll iron out a release date soon given that they’ve been working on the game for the past three years and it seems a little long in the tooth for developing an arcade-style beat-’em-up.
