AereA, Musical Co-op RPG Launches Digitally For PS4, Xbox One

Sodesco’s AereA has launched digitally for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The music-based action game is already available on Steam, and it will launch physically at retail on July 18th.

The four-player cooperative title sees players donning the role of four different music-themed character classes, including the Harp-Archer, the Cello-Knight, the Lute-Mage and the Trumpet-Gunner.

Even though all the characters are based on music instruments, their play-style is identical to other hack-and-slash co-op games where players blast through enemies and travel through isometric maps tackling enemies and crawling through dungeons.

You can check out the launch trailer below, featuring 36 seconds of gameplay for the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game.

The enemies are also themed after music as well. There’s a fake Gorilla Grodd looking boss with a trombone wrapped around him. There’s a griffin with harp-shaped wings, and an elephant with an electric taiko drum harnessed through its mid-section.

The story revolves around four of Maestro Guido’s disciples going on an adventure to explore the floating island of Aezir. The island has been broken into pieces and in order to restore balance to the world and restore peace and order, the disciples must collect all nine primordial instruments scattered about Aezir.

The game is very similar to a lot of other isometric co-op RPGs out there, so if you’re into games like Gauntlet or Grim Dawn or Torchlight II, you’ll probably take a liking to AereA.

The game launched at the beginning of June over on the Steam store for $29.99. You can pick up a digital copy right now from the PlayStation Network or the Xbox Live store for the PS4 and Xbox One respectively, or you can wait and get a physical copy when it arrives at local retailers during the middle of the month starting July 14th.
