Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta Dates For PC, PS4 And Xbox One Announced

Skeptical or excited for Star Wars Battlefront 2? EA and DICE will allow you to try your hand at the second iteration of their new take on the Star Wars Battlefront franchise through an Open Beta. The Open Beta will feature 40 player battles on the streets of Theed, and will be available to play this October across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

According to the most recent update made to ea.com, we learn that the Open Beta dates for Star Wars Battlefront 2 will kick-off on October 6th and will end on October 9th. Folks who pre-order the game, if you so choose, will gain access to the Open Beta four days early on October 4th.

Below is the notice that announces the Open Beta for the three listed platforms come this October:

“We’ve heard you loud and clear: you want to try your hand at epic encounters with iconic heroes, massive battles across detailed landscapes, and thrilling dogfights in space. You want to play Star Wars Battlefront II. Well, we have good news for you: the Star Wars Battlefront II multiplayer beta is on the way, available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC in October.”

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 Open Beta will include Galactic Assault on Naboo, where you, the player, will take part in a battle between the Separatist droid army and the Republic Clones on the streets of Theed in a 20 Vs. 20 battle.

Four classes will be present while the Open Beta is live, which the classes consist of an Assault Trooper, Heavy Trooper, Officers, and Specialists.

EA and DICE also teased a snippet regarding the multiplayer Starfighter Assault mode, as noted below:

“We’re not sharing all the details around this yet, but we can tell you that you’ll be able to take part in an epic starfighter assault set during the original trilogy era, piloting an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships in an objective-based, multi-stage battle. You’ll be learning much more about starfighters in Star Wars Battlefront II at Gamescom.”

I won’t be buying the upcoming game, but given that the Open Beta will be free and available for anyone to jump-in I might give it a go. Whether you were burned by the first game or Star Wars Battlefront 2 is your first game in the series that has your attention, I’d suggest that you try the Open Beta to get a basic ideal on how the core game will play out instead of blindly purchasing the upcoming title.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to drop across PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 17th.
