Bandai Namco and Arc System Works released a new gameplay demonstration of Dragon Ball FighterZ during this year’s EVO 2017 Championship Series. We got to see some of the characters, some of moves and some of the abilities on display, along with the reveal of Trunks.
The new 46 second teaser trailer was posted up by Bandai Namco during the final day of EVO. You can check out the trailer below.
The trailer doesn’t waste any time at all getting right to the good bits. We see Trunks right off the start.
Bulma and Vegeta’s son hops right into the fray using his special abilities after going Super Saiyan. Trunks fires off a beam blast, hops right into some sword slashes and unloads short blasts, knees, kicks and punches onto a wide assortment of opponents through the trailer that’s just under a minute long.
Trunks also can utilize his sword attacks to keep opponents off balance, and completely destroy his opponents with his super special, which looks really good in the video.
There was also some gameplay footage on display at this year’s EVO. The demo had some video captured and uploaded to PS360HD, which features 13 minutes of gameplay. After waiting for about a minute, we finally got to see the fights get underway.
The demo doesn’t show off too much of anything we haven’t already seen before, but it does give you more of an idea of what to expect from the upcoming fighting game. To be quite honest, it feels like this could be one of those surprise games that really takes the FGC by storm.
The speed, the dynamic animations, the anime-style presentation — a lot of it feels like a nice throwback to the old SNES 2D Dragon Ball Z fighting games. Hopefully the actual gameplay is as solid as it looks in the videos up above.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is due out for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2018.
