Morphite, Sci-Fi Shooter Arrives On Nintendo Switch, PS4, XB1 September 7th

A stylistic, 3D platforming, sci-fi shooter set within a procedurally generated galaxy from Crescent Moon Games, We’re Five Games and Blowfish Studios called Morphite, will officially release on PC, iOS, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch starting September 7th, 2017.

The unique hybrid of a game received its official release date trailer that briefly highlights some of the game’s outrageously bizarre worlds, characters, platforming levels and shooting segments. You can check out the minute long trailer below to get an idea of what the indie studios have come up with for Morphite.

The low-poly adventure title has sort of old-school throwback feel to its design, not unlike the combat driving sim, Interstate 76.

The low-poly art-style is offset with an outlandish aesthetic where things feel more dream-like than anything. It fits in well with the fantasy oriented story that involves a space traveler named Myrah Kale who ends up having her life upended when a mission goes awry and she ends up on interstellar adventure in order to uncover a secret aspect of her past and her relationship with the mysterious force known as Morphite.

Much like No Man’s Sky or StarMade, gamers will be able to travel the distant galaxy to reach and explore exotic locations, encounter alien species, fight off evil doers and explore hand-crafted levels spanning procedurally generated planets.

According to Ben Lee, CEO, Blowfish Studios, if you’re a fan of games like Metroid Prime and the original Turok on the N64, you’ll likely be right at home with Morphite, mentioning in the press release…

“Morphite is an atmospheric sci-fi shooter with inspiration drawn from classic console games including Ratchet and Clank, Metroid Prime and Turok,” […] “With those roots, bringing Morphite to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is a natural fit, and we look forward to sharing our universe with everyone this September.”

We’ll see how well gamers and critics adopt the new IP from the collection of indie studios when Morphite drops on September 7th for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, mobile devices and PlayStation 4.
