The publisher and developer that brought you Verdun, Blackmill Games and M2H, is set to bring Tannenberg to PC sometime this year. Currently in development, the first-person shooter set on the eastern-front of WW1 that sees the Central forces battling the Russians has new screenshots showing off its current state of develoment.
If you happen to be looking for a realistic or plausible adaptation of WW1 in video game form, Blackmill Games and M2H might just bring that in the form of Tannenberg. If you don’t know what the game will be like, the official reveal trailer lies below.
That’s right, Tannenberg happens to be the latest entry in the 1914-1918 WW1 Game Series that focuses on the eastern-front. Warfare on the border of the Russian Empire offers a fresh experience for newcomers and veteran players alike, with new squads and weapons, open maps that give players tactical freedom, and a whole new 64-player game mode.
Before detailing everything revealed in the screenshots below, you can view the latest stills to see how the Central Powers in Tannenberg will look and what weapons will be in the game.
The devs recently revealed the Austro-Hungarian soldiers and their weapons and uniforms. As seen above, some troops are wearing the Austrian M1917 helmet. This was an “in-house” made update to the German M16 helmet, for which the Austro-Hungarian forces received roughly around 500,000 units. Near the end of the war, another 500,000 local versions were brought into the fold, featuring different colors, chinstraps, and placement of rivets.
Moreover, the M1910 Entrenching tool main difference when compared to its previous version is the pointed tip. It was so sturdy, some were even re-issued to the Wehrmacht in WWII.
Looking over to the unofficially named M1888/15 canteen, it is said that it came from different manufacturers and is reflected through various name and date stamps.
When it comes to weapons, Many Steyr-Mannlicher rifles saw use. As seen above in the first picture, it looks like the second soldier is using a Gasser M1870 revolver (or another variant) due to the open-frame. In the second picture we can see the Steyr-Hahn pistol, although it’s unclear which version it is.
