THQ Nordic announced that they’re reviving the Black Mirror franchise. The game is scheduled to release on November 28th, 2017 later this year for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

The original game came out way back in 2003 and was developed by Future Games. It was a mild success in Europe and spawned two more sequels developed by Cranberry Productions. The games were point-and-click horror adventure titles, the last of a dying breed during the down-spin at the turn of the century for PC gaming.

THQ and King Art Games released a new cinematic trailer featuring two characters being devoured by some black, anthropomorphic mass, which you can check out below.

According to Blues, the game’s description notes that this has nothing to do with the Netflix series of the same name, but instead is a reboot of the European horror title from nearly 15 years ago.

The game won’t be too difficult to get into because they have plans on reintroducing newcomers and old-school fans to the characters and settings to help acquaint everybody with the new story that they plan to tell.

I don’t know how wise of an idea this is given that Black Mirror never really had any sort of strong market presence more than a decade ago, and most people probably don’t even remember the last game that came out for it. However, if it’s unique, original, well designed and isn’t derivative of every other Telltale-style game on the market at the moment, they just might have something worthwhile for fans of horror-oriented point and click games.

The game seems to have a Lovecraftian vibe about it, and centers around Dr. Farber going to visit a David Gordon, who ends up going through a dark journey of rediscovering his childhood and his family’s horrifying secret.
