Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive have teamed up together to work on the upcoming release of Spintires: Mudrunner. This is the follow-up to the original physics-based, vehicular trekking game, Spintires.
Despite the turbulent development cycle that the original went through, Focus Home Interactive is focused on keeping the series intact and on track toward maximizing its potential success. They’re hoping to capture the audience who desire physics-based, massive hauling trucks having a hard go of it as they attempt to drige through treacherous and insanely difficult terrain. You can get a brief glimpse of what they have in store with the reveal trailer below.
After selling more than a million copies of the original Spintires, Focus Home Interactive is tapping that resource like Kanye taps Kim’s… – ahem. Anyway, there will be 19 different vehicles to drive, each one sporting its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as multiplayer features, realistic water and mud simulation, and plenty of missions to complete.
Spintires made waves way back during its crowdfunding days when it first popped up on Kickstarter way back in 2013. The game was originally put together by Oovee Game Studios, and now that Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive have taken over, expect it to become annualized much like the Farming Simulator series.
Lately, I have to give props to Focus Home for really stepping outside of the box and either serializing games you probably didn’t expect to become annual outings, or picking up the license to properties that were small-time sleeper hits in practically undiscovered niches.
Spintires: Mudrunner is set to release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting this September. If you already own the original Spintires you can purchase the new release for 50% off the normal price. Additionally, they’re also selling pre-orders for the game over on the official website, which also boast a 10% additional discount.
