Assassin’s Creed: Origins Trailer Reveals Cleopatra, Caesar

We knew that Cleopatra and Caesar would make an appearance in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but with the latest cinematic trailer for the game they actually showed the rulers in action.

The cinematic trailer focuses on the powers that be attempting to pull the strings from both behind the shadows and out in the open. We then see Cleopatra for the first time, as she moves around some pieces on a war board. You can check it out below.

The reactions to the trailer were pretty diverse, ranging from some people happy that Bayek doesn’t look that black anymore…

…to some people who were just happy that the cinematic trailer was so dynamic.

Others were just excited that they didn’t make Cleopatra black, others were angry that they didn’t make her dark enough.

As usual, the biggest arguments about Assassin’s Creed: Origins are over the race of the Egyptians – whether they were white or black – which has been a constant argument since the game has been announced. Strangely, the “We Wuz Kings” memes have almost completely subsided… but mostly this has been a natural progression since Ubisoft has been putting more lighter-skinned characters in the trailers.

The rest of the comments vary from people saying that cinematics aren’t good representations for the game, to others saying that the gameplay just isn’t that exciting.

One thing that absolutely stands out with the cinematic is that none of what you see Bayek do is possible to do in the actual game. You can’t counter-fire arrows from the ground with the bow using Bayek’s feet. You can’t parry weapon attacks with counter-attacks the way Bayek does in the trailer, and you certainly don’t have cinematic looking combat in Assassin’s Creed: Origins like it was depicted in previous games.

You can look for Assassin’s Creed: Origins to launch on October 27th.
