Monster Games and 704Games released a new developer diary to talk about the three different racing series present in NASCAR Heat 2, along with some of the other features in the upcoming racing title for home consoles and PC.
The miniature developer diary talks about the new tracks, the new drone scanning process in order to capture data that could then be used for accurate geometry depictions, and optimizing the experience for having 40 cars on the track at a time while running smooth as possible. You can check out the video below.
The upcoming title sports six brand new tracks to race across, including three all new road tracks and two new ovals. They’ve also decided to include an all new dirt track as well, which adds an extra layer of depth and skill to the experience, especially considering that Monster Games mentions that drifting will be possible when racing around the dirt track. They specifically attempted to avoid making where players spent all their time spinning out, and decided to balance the physics out so that there was still a good admixture of arcade-style fun and simulated-skill required to conquer the race.
In addition to the stuff mentioned in the developer diary above, the press release indicates that the core NASCAR Heat 2 experience will rekindle everything that the original game already had, including the two-ploayer local split-screen play, and the expanded online multiplayer options.
The career mode is also making a return and is said to be deeper and more robust than ever before. The physics also have been improved along with the visuals and damage models.
The truck series definitely looks like it could be fun to play around with on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Anyway, if you’re interested in NASCAR Heat 2, the game will be somewhat budget priced when it launches for $49.99 on September 12th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will also arrive as a physical release in addition to a digital release. For more info you can visit the game’s official website.
