Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana Now Available On PS4, PS Vita With Bonus DLC

NIS America has been on a role lately with attempting to revive mind-share and market interest in the Ys brand. They re-released the original Ys Origins on the PS Vita and PlayStation 4 earlier this year, and followed that up with the remastered and HD re-release of Ys Seven on Steam for PC this past summer. Well, if you haven’t still had your fill of Ys gaming for the year, NIS America has announced that the Western release of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is now available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

You’re probably wondering why the game isn’t on PC as well? Well, don’t worry because NIS have been solid in taking care of Steam gamers. The title will make its way to Steam just at a later date. They didn’t want to WB their launch like what happened with Mortal Kombat X and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Anyway, the game brings the typical action-oriented RPG flavor of the Ys series back into the fold, with real-time combat, party control, and all the typical seasoning sprinkled on top of a JRPG adventure. You can check out the game’s visuals and gameplay via the launch trailer below.

Ah, some good ‘ole fashioned cancerous English dubbing.

Subs for life.

Anyway, the full game in the West comes with 38 additional bonus DLC packs that were previously released over in Japan for the PS Vita, and 24 additional DLC packs for the PlayStation 4. You get all of them included in the pack, which ranges from costumes to item sets to crafting upgrades.

Graphically, don’t go in expecting The Witcher 3 or Star Citizen, but it gets the job done for what Nihon Falcom intended to do.

If you were in the mood for playing a traditionally made JRPG, and your face was tired of all the Western role-playing games injected tons of SJW politics into the fold, you can get your hands on Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana right now for the PS Vita or PS4.
