11 Bit Studios released a new video for Frostpunk, their upcoming post-apocalyptic strategy game is still coming along and they’re reading for the game’s eventual release.
Art director, Przemyslaw Marszal, mentioned in the press note that they’re finalizing the development and they will be introducing new content soon and also unveiling how certain things work within the world of Frostpunk. In the press note, Marszal mentions…
“[…] let me tease you with new concept art, screenshots, and in-game gifs presenting Automatons – Huge, steam-powered machines that are the pinnacle of human engineering, used to ease the burden of hard labor from your wearied citizens. They’re an example of pragmatic and authentic steampunk technology, used to endure cold and ensure humanity’s chances of survival. Of course, automatons are just one of many features you may encounter in your city – there’s plenty more to see in the upcoming trailer! And stay tuned for more developer updates from us about Frostpunk features”
You can see what the new set of features look like in the developer diary below.
The automatons in Forstpunk are giant mech looking machines.
The automatons move around the city and can be directed to build and maintain structures within your city. They’ll also need to powered up by the generator to maintain their functionality.
The trailer hints at the people possibly turning against you if they see the automatons as a danger to their livelihood. It’s an interesting proposition that could play out in a number of different ways.
The game itself is centered around trying to keep your small remaining inhabitants within the city alive while bitter-cold conditions threaten their survival. You’ll have to manage your resources wisely and keep the generator active while building out the city and juggling the strains of food and heat management.
We’ll see what Frostpunk is like when it goes live on Steam. In the meantime you can learn more about it by visiting the Steam store page.
