Desolation, Realistic Battle Royale Game Won’t Have Microtransactions, Launches Aug 7th

Hawkeye Entertainment’s Desolation is yet another upcoming Battle Royale game for PC. It’s built on the Unreal Engine 4, and it’s claim to potential fame is that it relies on realistic physics-based interactions, combat, movement, and lighting.

Similar to Far Cry 2, players can use fire and lighting to change the outcome of a match, where trees and surrounding areas can be set ablaze, and physically based lighting is used throughout the levels so that you have to stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

Players can utilize stealth to get the jump on enemies, or create audible distractions in order to lure out foes. A gameplay trailer was recently released to give gamers an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Battle Royale title. You can check it out below.

The game will have a full multiplayer system in place when it enters into Early Access next month on August 7th.

All of the objects, animations, weapons and environments on display in the trailer above are supposedly finished and working in the current alpha build of the game.

The full version is planning on having additional weapons, new maps, and more content overall. They also have plans on releasing an Unreal Engine 4 modding kit so gamers can create their own content.

As far as the gameplay is concerned, it’s all a lot of the standard fare content you would expect from a Battle Royale game, just with the added hint of realism in the gunplay, movement, and visual immersive factors.

The popularity of a game like Desolation will be dependent on how well people enjoy the “realism” that the game offers. It certainly has an interesting look to it and it seems really grounded in its depiction of gunplay and survival.

We’ll see how well they can pick up and retain an audience when August 7th rolls around. They have plans on keeping Desolation in Early Access between three and six months, and there will supposedly be no microtransactions or DLC.
