Octopath Traveler Makes The Journey From Switch To Steam Starting June 7th

One of the most unique games to come out this generation is actually a rather old-school-esque title from Square Enix called Octopath Traveler. The Nintendo Switch exclusive sold quite well out of the gate, and Square figured it would be fiscally prudent to abandon the olden ways of exclusivity and port a version of the game to Steam on PC.

The 2.5D JRPG is scheduled to launch on Steam starting June 7th, 2019. It features all of the gameplay and content from the Nintendo Switch version, just ramped up for all your PC gaming needs, which includes all the amenities one would expect from the PC version of a game.

You’ll be able to deep dive into the roles of eight different playable characters, each with their own stories to tell and abilities to utilize.

The really cool part about Octopath Traveler is that the story unfolds slightly different depending on who you start the game with. So it encourages players to at least start the game over eight different times to really explore the true stories of each character.

The game also features eight different regions to explore and random battle encounters that relies on old-school active time turn-based battles.

The skill system and abilities is very reminiscent to the way the characters had their own unique jobs and movesets in Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy VI. As you level up and upgrade the characters, you can begin to experiment with new abilities and unlockable skills.

One of the things that really set Octopath Traveler apart from the rest of the competition is that it’s a 2D game set within a 3D environment with 16-bit inspired textures. This gives the game a really interesting look that stands out apart from everything else on the market.

You can look for Acquire and Square Enix’s throwback JRPG to launch on Steam this June. For more info you can visit the Steam store page.
