Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection Heading To PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC

SNK Corporation has been showing a lot of love recently to the Samurai Shodown franchise. All was going well for a time until they recently decided to cut short their own promotional campaign by cutting off one of their marketers at the knees after some cheeky comments made on the official Samurai Shodown account surfaced and grab many people’s attention. They seem to be trying to put that behind them by focusing on delivering good content again, and have done so by announcing that the Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection will be arriving on the Epic Games Store, Steam, the PS4, and the Nintendo Switch this summer.

The collection will come jam packed with seven full games based on the NeoGeo releases of Samurai Shodown, including the original game from 1993, leading all the way up to the unreleased version of Samurai Shodown V: Perfect.

They go over each of the games included in the collection, as well as each of the special features. You can check it out below.

Samurai Shodown III and IV are still my favorites, so it’s nice to finally have those games in a single collection on newer systems.

In addition to the full games, you’ll also gain access to the ability to unlock and check out concept and promotional art for each of the games, a jukebox so you can listen to the soundtrack from each entry, and development design documents.

Each version of the collection will release at different times for different platforms, with a scattered release throughout the summer. It arrives first on the Epic Games Store starting June 11th, followed by a release on Steam a week later on June 18th. The console versions are delayed by an entire month, with the PS4 and Switch versions launching on July 28th.

Hopefully SNK learned their lesson after taking blood money from Epic Games for exclusivity on PC, and avoid such trifles in the future. But given how so many companies keep kowtowing to the Intersectional Inquisition, it’s probably best not to put much hope in things getting better.
