Animmal Studio’s The Way of Wrath was announced back in October of 2019. The game managed to set itself apart from the rest of the competition by stockpiling on gore and nudity, two things that are either in short supply in Western gaming or subverted to the point where it induces a need to projectile vomit.
The general gist of the game centers around attempting to unite disparate warriors under a unifying banner at an old fort. You’ll need to rebuild your structures, fend off your home from uncouth invaders, and embrace the shamanistic religion that rests at the heart of your tribe.
You’ll be able to create and customize your character, from their appearance to their skills, and then journey through a handcrafted open-world experience where you’ll attempt to gather a party, explore the world, and strategically take on enemies in turn-based battles.
One of the key selling points is that the game will allow you to make choices that each carry their own kind of consequences, for better or for worse.
The story will dynamically evolve based on those choices you make. This means that new decisions, quests, and character interactions will be presented during the next story chapter based on all the choices you made in the previous chapter.
In addition to the combat and story elements, there’s also a bit of a survival meta-game present with the exploration feature, where you’ll need to find food and resources to keep your party alive.
It’s tough to tell whether or not the game features any pozzed content, so you’ll have to give the demo a try to see if it’s as earnest as the trailer depicts.
You can grab the free demo from over on the Steam store page right now. The full game is apparently scheduled to release at some point in late 2020.
