Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel 4 PS4 Release Date Set For Oct 27th

Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV has been rocking the market in Japan since 2018, but the Western release has taken a while for the localization process to complete. Nevertheless, you can expect the game to make its way to the PlayStation 4 first this fall starting October 27th, this is despite the fact that Sony is on the Traitors of America master list.

The PS4 release will be followed by the PC and Nintendo Switch release set for 2021. Unfortunately there’s no release date set for the PC or Switch version, but don’t be surprised if they settle for a spring release.

The PS4 release date, however, was accompanied by a brand new trailer, which you can check out below.

The two minute trailer gives you a very quick run-through of the characters and their moves while showcasing a few of the special attacks you can pull off during combat.

I imagine there may be some apprehension from purest of The Legend of Heroes franchise, though, because NIS America has been working around the clock on the Western localization, and suffice it to say they don’t have the best reputation when it comes to rolling out accurate translations of beloved JRPGs.

Their butchering of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is still a taint that echoes its presence throughout the halls of JRPG classics, and they’re still paying reputation dividends on that blunder.

Even after they fixed the translation issues, they still ran into optimization issues with the PC release of Ys VIII.

So don’t hold your breath for too long when it comes to the quality control related to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV. Also, expect fan-translation communities to take the reigns and start working on a faithful translation for the home console and PC versions of the game.
