The Surge 2 Will Have Optional Routes, Improved Boss Fights, And More Gear

Just like its predecessor, The Surge 2 will hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Unlike the first entry, the devs want more optional paths, more ways to solve an issue, coupled with brand new features like asynchronous multiplayer and drones.

Although three months out as of this writing, Focus Home Interactive and Deck13 are looking to make the most out of The Surge 2′s promotional campaign before it launches. This time around, the devs are showing off some of the new features waiting to be discovered by gamers and fans alike this September.

The video in question is a “Dev Gameplay Walkthrough.” I’m not sure if the Head of Game Design at Deck13, Adam Hetenyi, is actually playing but he’s the one narrating over the newly posted footage.

Anyway, the sequel now sports “massive levels,” the usual uncompromising and brutal combat, as well as asynchronous multiplayer. In other words, you can communicate with players using graffiti on walls, and I’m sure you’ll be able to share certain items with friends, too.

In addition to the above, optional locations are a thing where you can take one path and fight hard enemies to get to area X or take a side path and help someone in the process and still end up at area X or even to another area.

Also, the boss fights in the game have been improved as well as the combat targeting system where directional blocking/parrying is in the game.

You can check out the nearly nine-minute-long video right here thanks to Focus Home Interactive‘s YouTube channel:

The devs claim that there is more to explore with drones, character customization, weapons, implants, and armor sets in The Surge 2. However, time will tell how all of the above pans out at launch.

The Surge 2 is set to hit PC and home consoles on September 24th, 2019.
