Morphite, Exploration Game Channels No Man’s Sky With Platforming

Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is doing quite well as of this moment despite the fiasco that followed its release. That success seems to have inspired publisher Crescent Moon Games and developer We’re Five Games to create Morphite.

The game almost has as many development studios working on it equivalent to the amount of platforms it’s scheduled to release on. Yup, Crescent Moon Games, We’re Five Games, and Blowfish Studios are all working on Morphite so that those on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and iOS will all have fun, which will soon include those on Nintendo Switch and Android devices, too.

The game takes a lot of inspiration from Hello Game’s No Man’s Sky and that can be found from space exploration, landing your ship, scavenging planets, examining animals and other lifeforms, among other things.

It should be noted that there are differences between the two titles, insofar that Morphite is a low-poly version of No Man’s Sky with platforming, more shooting elements, and a talking main character. Additionally, the player explores the galaxy as Myrah Kale and must research plants, discover animals, face-off with hostile entities, and unravel a mystery surrounding a rare material that happens to be the name of the game: Morphite.

Just like No Man’s Sky, maps are procedurally-generated, but there are handcrafted parts to drive story elements so that the game is opened enough to explore various stuff while exercising narrow parts to tell a “cohesive” story.

The biggest difference is that No Man’s Sky has building aspects unlike Morphite, but you can definitely see where the devs behind the latter title have taken inspiration from the former. However, you can be the judge yourself by watching the latest trailer for Morphite that BlowFish Studios Games posted:

Morphite is available right now across PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One and iOS. A Switch and Android version are planned to release sometime soon. You can learn more about this game over on crescentmoongames.com.
