Wreckfest For Xbox One, PS4 Set To Release On August 27th

THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment announced that Wreckfest is set to launch on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 this summer starting August 27th for $39.99. The physics-based racer is a spiritual successor to the original Flatout, which had its debut on the sixth-gen consoles and PC 15 years ago.

Wreckfest was originally supposed to be a a crowdfunded game back in 2013, but they failed to meet the Kickstarter goals and instead funded the game through Steam Early Access after getting it approved through Steam Greenlight.

Wreckfest - Car Carnage

After years of development Wreckfest finally graduated from Early Access on PC back in June of 2018. It was supposed to launch on the Xbox One and PS4 back in November of 2018, but that never came to fruition.

Instead, THQ Nordic purchased Bugbear back in November of 2018, and helped the developers complete development on the PC side and then focus on porting the game to PS4 and Xbox One. After nearly a year of development, the home console version is now scheduled to launch at the end of August.

The console version of the game will be available in two versions, a standard edition for $39.99 and a deluxe edition for $59.99.

The deluxe edition comes with a 24-hour early access grace period on August 26th, along with an exclusive Bandit Ripper V8 car for everyone who pre-orders the game either digitally or physically. The deluxe version also comes with a season pass with access to 20 new cars, 20 roof decorations, and additional customization features for the vehicles including armor and rims.

PC gamers will also receive a free update for those who already own the game, which will include three new tracks, one new derby arena, three new challenge vehicles, a new reward for finishing the career mode, overhauled career events, new paint jobs for existing vehicles, and additional daytime settings for every track in the game.

You can pick up a digital copy of Wreckfest right now from the Steam store. During the Steam summer sale the game was heavily discounted, which would have been the perfect time to pick up a copy.
