S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Will Have A Non-Linear Story With Multiple Endings

The upcoming first-person action-survival title by GSC Game World will head to PC and next-gen home consoles. Although S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has no official launch date, a new trailer has surfaced, showing off what the sequel has in store for gamers and fans alike.

The latest trailer showing off S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 expands on an old screenshot of the game that appeared back in late March of this year. In other words, the image that revealed the anomaly in the sky out in a car wrecked forest has been expanded on in the newly posted trailer.

Moreover, unlike its predecessor(s), the sequel will release across PC and home consoles. However, it’s unclear at this point if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will debut only for PC and Xbox Series X or if it will release for PS5? While we wait to find out, GSC Game World shared the following trailer during the most recent Xbox Games Showcase digital event:

“The award-winning PC franchise loved by millions of players is making a true next-gen console debut with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Experience one of the biggest open-worlds to date, filled with radiation, mutants, and anomalies.”

Aside from anomalies and open desolate land, the dev team made mention on March 23rd, 2020, that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will carry on the series legendary legacy while being the most ambitious title in the franchise:

“Greetings, Stalkers!

Thirteen years ago we released S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

The world was never the same after that. Millions of players rushed into the Zone. Driven by the desire to uncover mysteries, you overcame difficulties, hunted for treasures, fought monsters and joined factions.

You changed to become the real Stalkers.

You made this day forever special.

Being inspired by everything you do (including arts, stories, cosplays and mods), we fully understand we can’t let you down. The second chapter of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. saga will be our most ambitious game so far. It will live to the legendary legacy.”

It’s also worth noting that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will have a non-linear story that branches out. Choices will impact both short-term and long-term events, where there will be multiple endings to experience thanks to said choices.

Over on the official Xbox website, they also explain that the dynamic AI will return and will be far improved over previous games, and that the ecosystem will provide for a very entertaining experience…

“Both monsters and factions that inhabit the Zone are constantly interacting with each other. The previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games introduced A-Life — a living world simulating system. The reimagined version of this system, which we call A-Life 2.0, will control the state of the world and the behavior of characters and mutants, making the Zone ever-changing and truly alive. Countless events and encounters will happen every moment — even if you are not around to witness them with your own eyes.”

Lastly, all that we know right now is that the sequel will be the company’s most ambitious choice-based open-world FPS game while using Unreal Engine 4. Besides that info, the game is presumed to release either in 2021 or 2022 for PC and next-gen home consoles.
