Massive Damage and Raw Fury released a new trailer for the upcoming turn-based, sci-fi, role-playing game, Star Renegades. The new trailer dropped at this year’s GamesCom, which is taking place in Cologne, Germany. It was part of the Indie Arena Booth, where lots of other indie titles were also on display.
The trailer clocks in at just under two minutes, giving gamers a brief glimpse at the rogue-like elements, where you’ll gather your team, head into battle, attempt to survive, or attempt to revive who ever didn’t live through the encounter.
The battles are gruesome and dynamic, utilizing pixelated graphics with spiffy lighting to help set the mood. You can check out the trailer below to get a glimpse of what the characters and combat is like.
So the general gist of the story is that players are thrust into an interplanetary war taking place, where a rebellious uprising is emerging against an authoritarian empire. The game’s campaign missions are procedurlaly generated, but you’ll still need to travel through the world to eventually topple the head of the Empire.
To mix up the game, the enemies are operated by the Intelligent Adversary system, which constantly generates new enemies and bosses every time you play, giving you a unique and different challenge each time you boot up the game. It learns, adapts, and evolves the play experience alongside you, so that you constantly have to think and rethink your strategies before heading into battle.
To further add variance to the gameplay they’ve also implemented new counteracts, combos and interrupt systems that allow you shift the tide of battle depending on how you string together attacks, or cut off enemy attacks, or develop abilities to thwart your opponent’s strategies.
It all sounds rather fascinating, and I’m definitely interested in seeing more. You can wishlist the game or learn more about Star Renegades by visiting the Steam store page.
