Microïds Says XIII Will Release On PC via Steam, New Screenshots Appear

The upcoming remake of the 2003 first-person shooter game, XIII, is in the hands of Microïds and PlayMagic. In an attempt to bring back the espionage or conspiracy game sometime in 2020 across PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, the devs have shared new screenshots that reveal familiar weapons.

Microïds took to Facebook to show off some of the latest work done on the remake of XIII, which includes images of Winslow Bank, the FBI headquarters, and MacCall’s camp:

The throwing knife is back as well as the .44 special revolver based on the Colt Anaconda. Additionally, the M16 with the M203 grenade launcher is also in the remake too.

As for the game’s new look, I’m not a big fan of it given that it no longer looks like a comic-book or cel-shaded novel. However, given that the remake of the 2003 game is still in development and is due out sometime next year means that its graphical aesthetics can always change later down the line.

Besides weapons and graphics, we learn that XIII the remake will land on Steam. A fan by the name of Tobias asked whether or not the 2020 title will end up on said storefront. Here’s Microïds’ response:

“Normalement oui.”

“Normalement oui” can be translated as “normally yes” or it’s something to expect. However, this does not rule Tim Sweeney and crew out of the equation from poaching the remake of XIII and putting it on the Epic Games Store, so keep your eyes peeled.

As of now, it’s unclear how the 2020 remake of XIII will pan out or if it will still feature its iconic comic-book look or stay on Steam as noted above. While we wait, you can see the teaser trailer in full before the FPS game hits PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch sometime next year:
