It looks like Publisher Xaviant Games and developer Xaviant are re-evaluating their position and if they’ll have to make a difficult situation regarding the studio’s future. The Culling 2 released on July 10th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, the former platform reveals some telling things.
On July 9th, the company seemed very confident, so confident that they posted on The Culling 2′s Steam page that it will be the epitome of “Battle Royale distilled into its purest form.” The same page also reinforced that the “online server performance are all tuned” to provide the “cleanest, rawest, most visceral competition on the planet.”
“You think you know Battle Royale? This is Battle Royale distilled into its purest form. The game mechanics, the match pacing, and the online server performance are all tuned to provide the cleanest, rawest, most visceral competition on the planet. It’s everything you need and nothing you don’t.”
Not even a week later, the devs pretty much retracted on the above statement through a new tweet as featured below:
It’s time for us here at Xaviant to come together for some much needed soul searching and to have some admittedly difficult discussions about the future of our studio.
We’ll talk soon.

Although website Steam Charts only covers PC players and does it through estimation, meaning the full picture isn’t at play, we can use this to get an idea of what’s going on with The Culling 2. I think it’s safe to say that it’s not doing well at all.
If you think those numbers (or single-digits) above are over exaggerating the situation, it looks like the devs even know the situation is pretty bad.

A Twitter user responded that the dog is in a better situation than The Culling 2, to which the devs replied using a “sad” GIF as a response:

There’s no telling how The Culling 2 is doing on PS4 or Xbox One, but what is for sure is that the devs are discussing” the future” of the studio and whether it will make it or not.
The Culling 2 is out now across PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $19.99.
