Sonic Unleashed Becomes Playable At 60fps On RPCS3 PS3 Emulator

Sonic Unleashed was the game that truly helped bring the furry community into existence, marking that the end times are nearly upon us. It also had some pretty good music and a few noteworthy stages.

Speaking of which, various stages in Sonic Unleashed are now playable at 60fps and beyond in the RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator. The development team working on the emulator released a new video recently showcasing the game running clean and pristine on the emulator with very few drops for the 2008 3D platformer.

The video follows on the heels of another video that the RPCS3 team put out recently where they showcased games like Yakuza Kazen and God of War Ascension running in playable states on the PS3 emulator.

The video for Sonic Unleashed reveals that the game is now playable and stable at 60fps for the most part, and that stability improvements have been made for the compatibility so that there is no longer frequent stuttering or frame drops during high-octane moments of gameplay. Don’t take my word for it, though, there’s a near four minute video available showcasing the game in action, which you can check out below.

There are a couple of moments where the game slows down, but overall, the playability and speed seems to match and at times outperform the original PlayStation 3 version.

The team is confident that the RPCS3 version of Sonic Unleashed runs better than the native version running on the PS3.

The team have been making leaps and bounds in advancing the RPCS3 to the point where it runs many of the PS3’s most popular games from the seventh generation.

The emulator is still a ways out from reaching beta, but the developers are making new games playable just about every single week.

You can actually download the latest iteration of the RPCS3 right now by visiting the official website and following the instructions on how to get it up and running.
