Xbox Games With Gold For August Gives Gamers For Honor, Dead Space 3, Forza Horizon 2

Last month Microsoft gave gamers a piss-poor line-up games that no one cared about and no one even remembers even though it was just a few weeks ago that those games were announced. That’s how much the line-up sucked, and you won’t anyone but Xbox fanboys slurping up the toe-jam of Phil Spencer defending the last couple of months of offerings from Games With Gold as Microsoft attempts to reposition the service as little more than a catcher of offerings positioned underneath the pitcher of Xbox Game Pass. For August, however, Microsoft actually seems to want to give Xbox Live Gold subscribers something worthwhile to add to their libraries, bringing back a handful of noteworthy AAA titles to the free game line-up.

Over on the Xbox News site it’s detailed that Xbox One gamers will gain access to For Honor and Forza Horizon 2, while Xbox 360 owners (and Xbox One owners) will gain access to Dead Space 3 and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

August starts with Forza Horizon 2, which will be available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers between August 1st and August 31st.

During the middle of the month Ubisoft’s For Honor will be offered up for free between August 16th and September 15th.

For Xbox 360 owners and those who appreciate the availability of backwards compatibility, Dead Space 3 will be available between August 1st and August 15th. You’ll be able to play Visceral Games last good game before EA shuttered the studio and buried it out behind the shed.

Last but probably least is Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for the Xbox 360. The game – just like Dead Space 3 – is also backwards compatible for the Xbox One. It will be available between August 16th and August 31st.

The offerings aren’t the most groundbreaking, but it’s a solid showing of games that people might actually want to play.

They certainly aren’t good enough to want to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold for, especially to play a Ubisoft game. But if you’re already subscribed and you want to fill out your library with a few more noteworthy games, it doesn’t hurt to add them to your library.
