The Kickstarter campaign for Indie Pogo, the indie fighting game featuring popular characters from various indie outings, has been successfully completed. Not only that, but the game is a lot further along in development than you might have been expecting, so you could be seeing it arrive on Early Access sooner rather than a decade from now.
The Kickstarter was aiming for $25,000, but the team at Lowe Bros., managed to accrue just over $41,000. In an update video the lead designer on the game noted that most of the core mechanics and play features are already in place, and a lot of the work now resides in replacing the placeholder menus, the online multiplayer, the single-player classic mode, and other other characters and stages.
They’re currently working on two new stages, along with considering adding a stage from Crypt of the Necrodancer, along with adding in a character and stage from Awesomenauts.
They’re also working on the new characters they managed to acquire during the Kickstarter, including Octodad from Octodad, Download Kid, and Dust from the game Dust: An Elysian Tail. They’re also adding Kick from Divekick and the character from Enter The Gungeon.
They currently have playable characters from popular indie titles like Freedom Planet, Teslagrad, Shovel Knight, Rivals of Aether, VVVVVV, Bit.Trip, Inti Creartes Gunvolt, and the one-armed, one-eyed heroine from The Next Penelope.
They’re currently set to release the game at some point in March of 2018 next year on PC. However, it’s noted in the video above that not all of the characters may make it into the release, but they could be added post-release once they’re finished.
The theme of the game is around asymmetrical platform fighting, making it slightly more challenging than a typical Super Smash Bros., bout. If you’re interested in learning more you can visit the official Kickstarter page.
