DigitalDNA Games, the makers of CastleMiner Z for the Xbox Live Indie Games section on the Xbox 360, announced that they have a new survival action title on the horizon called Death Toll.
The concept of the game centers around players having to survive hostile environments while equipping and scavenging for weapons, as well as commandeering a wide range of vehicles such as motorcycles, tanks, helicopters and even boats.
There’s a gameplay trailer that they released for the upcoming title showcasing some of the mechanics and features for Death Toll. You can check it out below.
So the concept of the game is not unlike other Battle Royle titles out there such as Islands of Nyne or Bluehole’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
The video showcases some rough graphics as a player parachutes down onto a farm and gets into a laughable shootout with another player.
The guy who parachutes down picks up an AK-47 and then blows up something in the back. We then see the player run at turbo speed and get their hands on a motorcycle, just until another player uses a rocket to blast them out of the sky.
We then get a scope of the game’s mission: find the four artifacts and escape via the airfield.
While the game really is rough around the edges, one of the selling points is that there’s a focus on weaponized vehicular gameplay.
After the motorcycle gets blown up things continue to escalate, involving tanks blasting each other down, and helicopters coming in for an air raid.
I think if they can fix up the animations and make them smoother, make the movement speeds balanced, and keep the silly physics, they just might have a winner on their hands with Death Toll.
