Shin Megami Tensei V Coming Exclusively To Nintendo Switch

Atlus announced that Shin Megami Tensei V is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch. No release date has been set, no price has been given, and details about the game are rather thin. Over on the official Atlus Japanese website a teaser trailer was posted up along with a brief synopsis of the game.

Players take on the role of a high-school student who traverses through modern day Japan. However, the dead bodies of devils who died in the tunnels haunt the Tokyo subway, and it’s up to players to figure out what went down as well as protect the people from these devils. One thing worth noting is that those who died did so during battle, and so players must figure out why these warriors are now devils taking their presence amongst the tunnels of Tokyo.

You can check out the teaser trailer for the game below to get an idea as to what Atlus is gunning for with Shin Megami Tensei V.

Right off the bat the trailer reveals that the game is running on the Unreal Engine 4, as well as gives gamers a brief look at some of the dead warriors within the tunnel system.

There’s a mystery surrounding Daath and the Shekinah Glory that players must figure out in order to save Tokyo from the demon invasion.

According to Famitsu, they will have a special interview in the next issue detailing the game, which was announced as part of the 25th anniversary of the Shin Megami Tensei series.

During the official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch during the January press conference, we all knew that a new Shin Megami Tensei game was coming to the Switch, but we just didn’t know exactly what it would be. Well, now that Atlus made the announcement I can imagine a thousand tears being shed in unison as cries of pain echo throughout the PlayStation fanboy nation.

On the upside, Nintendonites will be pleased to know that they have a new high-profile JRPG to look forward to, and that the Switch is being taken quite seriously by Atlus, at least.

We’ll have to wait for more details from the Famitsu interview to find out when Shin Megami Tensei V will be released and exactly how it will play on Nintendo’s little hybrid console-that-could.
