One of the games that a lot of gamers have been looking forward to is Human Head Studios’ Rune. It’s an open-world Viking survival game themed around the impending chaos of Ragnarok, with dragons, giants, and mythical beasts roaming and terrorizing the land. The game is scheduled to enter into Early Access on Steam starting next month in September.
Ahead of the Early Access release, Human Head Studios — yes the same Human Head who were working on Prey 2 — have plans on stress-testing the server this very weekend starting August 18th. For those of you who signed up to be a part of the stress test over on the official website, you may be invited to join in and give the game a whirl as part of an early-Early Access.
For those of you who are completely out of the loop for this game, you can check out the visually stunning trailer for Rune below.
Visually the game looks like a cross between God of War and The Elder Scrolls. Gameplay wise it’s a lot like a cross between Conan Exiles and Vikings.
You’ll be able to mutilate enemies with devastating attacks, equip a number of different weapons, acquire new armor, and explore new regions.
Players will have to get strong, battle against the gods, and cleanse the land of the maelstrom that blights Midgard.
Your main goal is to reach and destroy Loki, the creator of the chaos and the bringer of Ragnarok. The game utilizes a lot of the same survival sim mechanics that players have grown accustomed to over the years, including the ability to team up with other players or engage in PvP against them.
You can align with certain gods, unlock new powers, and upgrade your character in order to face off against greater challenges and mythical monsters.
The game has a great look to it and it really is visually spectacular. Hopefully it plays as well as it looks.
You won’t have to wait long to find out as Rune will enter into Early Access this September. For more info you can visit the Steam store page or sign-up to participate in the beta test this weekend.
