Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection, Action-JRPG Now Available On Steam

Nihon Falcom’s JRPG Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection is currently available right now on Steam for $29.99. The game is 10% off during the first week of landing on Valve’s digital distribution service, allowing you to grab it for $26.99.

The game is about a pilot who is also a treasure hunter named Ragna Valentine. He he ends up getting ambushed and his ride crashes on the floating continent of Ilvard. He ends up teaming up with vampire princess Alwen du Moonbira, and the duo end up teaming up after Alwen saves Ragna from the crash and makes a blood pact with him, having him serve as a vassal after saving his life.

The two end up having to retrieve her stolen magic and a castle that was usurped by villains, forcing the two to have to train to get stronger, encounter odd characters, and hunt for some rare treasures along the way. You can see what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

Visually the game hearkens back to the days of the PS2, opting for a colorful palette and chibi-style characters. Players will have an action-RPG laid out before them with Zwei, being able to utilize both Ragna and Alwen in a mix and match of melee combat and magic attacks.

The game also utilizes a food-based experience system, so as you eat food you can cash in what you eat to gain levels or wait and rack up the EXP. The description notes that you can even beat the game being only at level 1.

Unfortunately, the game does have English voice-overs and NIS America add 2,000 additional lines to Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection. So I’m not sure how well that’s going to go down with gamers who would probably prefer subs over dubs.
