NIS America released a new trailer for The Witch and The Hundred Knight 2, detailing the broad scope of the game’s story and generally setting up what players will be doing in the upcoming JRPG due for release in early 2018 for PS4 in North America and Europe.
The trailer isn’t very long but it maintains a vibrant pace while the symphonic bossa plays in the background, giving gamers a collage of some great looking imagery while briefly setting up the world that they’ll be diving into next year.
The game is set within the world of Kevala, a world brimming with fantastical environments and powerful witches. Players will take on the role of the Hundred Knight as he attempts to serve Amalie, an agent working with an anti-witch organization, as she attempts to save her sister, Milm, from succumbing to the transformation of the awakened witch Chelka.
You can snag a look at the trailer below.
The story follows the Knight’s efforts to save Milm after she’s stricken with the witch’s disease, which awakens Chelka who promptly enchants a Hundred Knight doll that was in Milm’s possession. In result, the Knight is tasked with protecting Milm, Amalia and Chelka as they attempt to escape from the clutches of the agents of the anti-witch organization, as well as rival witches willing to do them in.
The trailer didn’t get into any of the game’s actual mechanics or gameplay, but expect the same isometric, action-oriented role-playing combat and magic casting that was present in the original The Witch and the Hundred Knight.
Hopefully NIS America does right by the game’s localization. There weren’t many issues brought up with the first game, so hopefully they maintain that same quality for the sequel. They received quite the community lashing with their lackadaisical approach that was taken with Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, and they ended up having to apologize and announced that they would go back to the board to fix the problems. So hopefully that won’t be required with The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2.
You can look for the game to arrive on the PS4 starting sometime in 2018. For more info feel free to visit the official website.
