Looking to assume the role of an action squad? If you want to take on suicide bombers, terrorists, and other dangerous forces while saving hostages, KillHouse Games and PixelShard’s Door Kickers: Action Squad is set to launch this year for PC via Steam Early Access.
Door Kickers: Action Squad Steam Early Access page has just went up not too long ago and features a release date of 2017. The game sees you or a friend stopping the act of terrorism through disarming bombs, saving hostages, clearing old schools, and diving into deadly situations all in a 2D side-scrolling setup:
“Rescue hostages, disarm bombs and save the day in this old school, side scroller action with retro graphics and retro sensibilities. Coop MP Included.”
Two trailers showing how to deal with suicide bombers and rescuing hostages can be seen below. The first video by KillHouse Games is a teaser trailer, while the second video is actual gameplay.
Door Kickers: Action Squad features three playable characters, each with unique gameplay mechanics. This opts for unique and alternate scenarios that differ from a previous session of door busting.
I’m not sure how this will play out at launch, but the game being a 2D title will supposedly feature non-linear levels and unpredictable enemies. According to the devs this will manifest through 20 plus weapons, gear, items, enemy, and four game objectives to explore.
Moreover, unlocks will be present and scattered throughout the game. These unlocks offer squad abilities that must be used wisely if you want them to be effective.
If all of the above is not to your liking and you wish to play your own maps, Door Kickers: Action Squad has a built-in map editor. You can either play the story mode or your own maps with a friend via couch co-op or multiplayer.
Door Kickers: Action Squad will release this year for PC via Steam Early Access sometime this year. More information on this game can be found over on inthekillhouse.com.
