Star Wars Battlefront 2 Disasters Continue Through Community Transmission And Droideka

Every time when you think EA and DICE PR moves can’t get any worse, well the company manages to prove you wrong. From the disaster that is Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot-box controversy to slow updates, there’s yet more confusion and disastrous moves that have surfaced regarding the game.

Firstly, misconception broke out over an unnamed Imgur image of two Clone troopers that you can find right here, thanks to web.archive.org, which raised eyebrows days later on the August community transmission as seen below:

F EA 2

The above Imgur image was once up and is now taken down and replaced with a standard PNG image so that it won’t show “Only 2 skins!? F*ck EA!!!!” Additionally, the once unnamed image was later featured on r/Gamingcirclejerk where it took up the above name on the community transmission instead of being unnamed. Either way, none of the above should have ever happened and could have been avoided if the devs named the image.

But there’s more.

Fans spotted a Droideka in the promotional art for the new update which is said to appear in-game. However, the community manager tells fans that it doesn’t exist, but later says that the Droideka does exist and will be implemented. At this point, nobody knows if the Droideka is coming or not, until, EA’s community manager, F8RGE noted:

“When we first started to see mentions of Droideka the instant answer from us was “no”, which at the time we believed to be 100% correct.

This is because we currently have no active plans for a Droideka, nor do we have any assets within our active development version of the game. While we saw the similarities, we believed it could have been a crashed speeder or environmental clutter.

This is why we came out and said that it wasn’t. We wanted to react quick, and to communicate but more importantly, we didn’t want you to think something was coming that wasn’t. This is why we confirmed that it wasn’t one.

Because we have the ability to reload the scene (think of it like opening a save point in a level) a screenshot was created in, we did some additional investigation. It was during this investigation that we found an old, unused and partially built asset of a Droideka. The asset itself is nothing more than a static model. It has zero integration into the game, meaning it is currently missing, rigging, animation, VFX, audio, abilities, UI and more.

While the screenshot was created recently, it was done so on a version of the game that contained some unused assets. Moving forward we will be taking steps to ensure this does not happen again.”

Furthermore, the blunders continue where we learn the same community manager tells fans about a non-existent Rebel Pilot that apparently runs for 4,000 Battle Points, but then backtracks and says there are no plans for this type of character to be in Battlefront 2.

Keep in mind that all of the above happened in one month.

Anyway, YouTuber Battlefront Knight has a video on the current dilemma (or the aforesaid) that you can watch right here:
