Bishop Games released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming side-scrolling puzzle game, Light Fall. One of the core features of the game is called the Shadow Core, and it changes how players will engage with their surroundings.
The trailer truly is just a teaser, clocking in at just 31 seconds, two of which are wasted on a logo. However, the rest of the trailer moves at a blistering fast pace, revealing how players will traverse through the game world using the platforming abilities to traverse through obstacle-laden levels that will test your reflexes and hand-eye coordination. The trailer definitely seems to make Light Fall look like a speedrunner’s paradise.
You can check out the teaser trailer below.
So the gimmick of the game is that you’re a little boy who enters in the shadow world of Numbra, and it’s become overrun with darkness. Your objective is to restore light to the world.
Helping aid you along the way is the Shadow Core, a device that can be used to get around the environment. In the press release they explain that the Shadow Core can be used as a platform to elevate you through the level, or as a wall to hop off of. You can use it as a shield to block incoming attacks or as a key to solving specific puzzles or unlocking certain doors. You can use it as a gear, as a motorized device and even as a counterweight for elevators.
The physics-based Shadow Core has some unique features for sure. A lot of the actual fun from Light Fall will come both in how much creative freedom players will have with using the Shadow Core, and how challenging the levels will be when it comes to forcing players to get creative with their abilities.
The game is still a long ways off from release, due out at some point in March of 2018, so it will be a while before it lands on digital storefronts for PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. If you’re interested in learning more don’t hesitate to visit the official website.
