Megagon Industries announced that their isometric, 3D biking game, Lonely Mountains: Downhill, is coming to the PS4, the Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch coming in 2019. The game will be published by Thunderful, which is founded by Image & Form and Zoink Games.
Lonely Mountains: Downhill was originally crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in October of 2017. The game was funded to the tune of €45,042 and eventually nabbed itself a nice cozy spot on the Steam store page announcing that it will be releasing at some point in late 2018.
Megagon Industries followed up their PAX West appearance with an announcement that the game will not only be releasing on PC, but starting sometime next year in 2019, you can expect to see the game on the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch courtesy of Thunderful.
The game uses HD low-poly visuals with a bokeh depth of field to give the impression that the downhill racer is like watching a little toy figurine make its way down a treacherous mountain path.
You can see the gameplay trailer below to get an idea of what to expect from the upcoming title.
As you can see, the hook for the game is that you have to navigate through linear tracks that look non-linear. It’s a little bit like rally racing for bikes.
You’ll need to avoid trees, make the jumps right proper, and avoid ending up crashed, smashed, and demolished by the wayside.
It feels like a mixture of the old-school Xtreme Games titles but given a deliberately low-poly makeover and an isometric perspective to mix up the challenge.
If you managed to attend PAX West this year in Seattle, Washington, you can check out a playable demo for yourself between August 31st and September 3rd by visiting the Thunderful booth located at #6003 on level 6.
