Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption Coming To XB1, PS4 April 25th, 2018

Publisher Another Indie announced that Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption is set for release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, along with Windows and Mac, starting April 25th, 2018.

Developer Dark Star Studios has been working on the game a while, and they’re composed of veterans from other top-notch studios, including a former art director from Ubisoft, a senior programmer from Komani, and a technical artist from Blizzard Entertainment. Despite two of the publishers focusing on SJWism and one of them having turned to trash, it’s hard to deny that the talent at those studios have worked on some artistically competent and technically sound games over the years (well, the art part for Ubisoft and the technically sound part for Blizzard).

Anyway, the Hong Kong-based studio unleashed a new trailer for Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption, highlighting the game’s boss-rush concept and gameplay.

Let’s just get this out of the way: this looks like Dark Souls: Chibi Edition.

I’ve got no qualms about it, but game journalists will likely not stop comparing it to the actual Dark Souls.

Now the game is very much unlike Dark Souls in terms of execution, because the soldier you play as, Adam, gets weaker as the game wears on. In order to atone for his sins he must give up a small piece of himself for purification. This means that it will require more and more tactical skills as you progress through the game.

Sinners Sacrifice for Redemption

This is literally a gamer’s game, where only those who get good will succeed. You know what that means for game journalists? “Git gud!”

Iain Garner, director of developer relations at Another Indie explained in the press release that it will definitely encourage players to progress through the game and find a playstyle that best suits your skillset, saying…

“Sinner will test players’ skill in battle, giving them plenty of options to find a playstyle that works for them even as Adam grows weaker,” “The feeling of defeating each boss and receiving more of the deep narrative is both rewarding and riveting.”

I like the concept so far, and given the dearth of boss rush games out there in recent times – with the exception of the beautifully crafted Furi – I’m looking forward to Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption.

The game will be available April 25th, 2018 for $18.99.
