Unavowed, Neo-Noir Supernatural Adventure Game Coming In 2018

Wadjet Eye Games released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Unavowed, a hand-drawn, fantasy-noir, point-and-click adventure game set to release at some point in 2018 on Windows for PC.

The teaser trailer gives you a small glimpse into the supernatural world that Wadjet Eye Games have created, where New York City is on the verge of being overrun with the dark forces of hell. A new hero must emerge in order to face off against the impending threat, and that’s where the player comes in.

You can check out the trailer below, which clocks in at just over a minute.

The trailer instantly reminded me of Funcom’s The Secret World.

Players will join a team of supernatural bounty hunters, intent on protecting the normies from the supernatural horrors that live beyond the common eye.

It reminds me a lot of Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s Wicked City… but without the tentacles.

Unlike other Wadjet Eye titles you aren’t just limited to pointing, clicking and solving puzzles. As showcased in the trailer, the game has some turn-based RPG-style mechanics at play where it appears as if gamers will be able to attack the baddies and unleash some serious pain on the supernatural entities unlucky enough to cross your path (unless of course you’re a newbie and you let the supernatural spawns turn you inside out like an ugly Christmas sweater from your aunt Helen that you decided to use for your cat’s new bed blanket).

Anyway, we don’t get to see a whole lot of gameplay, but we get to see enough to know that Wadjet Eye is increasingly upgrading their artistic skills, sticking with the hand-drawn backgrounds and characters while making them in higher definition than their previous outings. The ability to pick and choose your teammates is also a welcomed addition to the game, so you’re not just stuck playing with one or two characters.

They’ll likely chronicle further developments on Unavowed leading up to its release in 2018, so be sure to keep an eye on the progress by visiting the official website.
