The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was announced by Capcom over the weekend. It will feature 12 of their classic games, including the following titles:

  • Street Fighter
  • Street Fighter II
  • Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
  • Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Street Fighter II

  • Street Fighter Alpha 3
  • Street Fighter III

That’s quite a few games. Four of the titles, including Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike will also feature online play, so you can battle with your buddies both locally or from around the world.

Lobbies will support up to four players, and Capcom will be including global leaderboards, rewind tech for low-latency battles, and even officially ranked matches.

You can see what the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will look like running on home consoles and PC when it launches in May of 2018 next year, thanks to the trailer below.

After James Chen gives his heartfelt intro, the trailer moves on to cover all the different games and content that will be included in the package, including an interactive timeline, concept art from the various games, a music archive with a built-in music player, and even a sprite viewer for all of you M.U.G.E.N. enthusiasts out there.

The collection will feature over 60 playable characters spanning 30 years of Street Fighter, including one of my all-time personal favorites… Q.

Unfortunately, Capcom did not give a price for the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. So we could be looking at anything anywhere between $30 and $60.

Knowing Capcom they’ll go with the upper end of the market value for the bundle pack, making it $60 for the 12 games. If anyone at Capcom had some common sense they would try to talk them down in the price to somewhere around $35 or $40 as a compromise. I mean a lot of the games are old… 30 years old.

[Update: According to the official fact sheet, the game will cost $39.99. The ports of the classic titles will be handled by Digital Eclipse.]

Anyway, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will be available in May, 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam for PC, and on the Nintendo Switch. Capcom is showing a lot of love for the Switch.
