Editorial: EA And DICE Have A Problem With Events And Tracking Progression

This is a problem that I would have let slip, but I feel that the biggest issue is that we’re dealing with a triple-A company here that makes the same excuse over and over, which has spanned across multiple games. You know what that problem is? Events and tracking progression.

Before diving deeper into the situation, I know that there is a long list of problems that you and I could agree on regarding EA, same concept applies to DICE. But one problem that has been flooding EA and DICE games without a proper rhyme or reason, which affects gameplay for the worst, is the lack of communication regarding events and tracking progression.

If you’ve ever played Battlefield 1 during its launch days you’ll know that it ran circles around Battlefield 4’s launch, but did BF1 really need nine to 10 months just to receive a glitchy progression tracker that forewarned gamers in-game about a poorly implemented event?

The reason that this very topic is coming up is that the issue has surfaced once again regarding the controversial Star Wars Battlefront 2 by EA and DICE.

There’s a lot of confusion that has sparked up due to an event that was not thoroughly explained correctly, which has some people in confusion like YouTuber Quinn Knight. I should note that Quinn is a hardcore fan of all things Star Wars (including SWBF2), but he has even come to the point of questioning EA and DICE’s practices pertaining to the future of Star Wars Battlefront 2.

The pressing factor behind this whole thing is that whether the event rolled out on time or not, EA and DICE have not disclosed it widespread for fans and gamers alike to know what is what.

Another problems is that this progression system being vague was a main vocal point by community members of Battlefield 1, which still plagues Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s latest The Last Jedi event.

The thing I’m questioning here is where is all of the time going if Star Wars Battlefront 2 had a first game as a base platform, and EA and DICE have a vocal community that always wanted proper events and progression that’s tracked without glitches?

At this point, there is no excuse why EA and DICE’s two multiplayer focused games, Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, have so many multiplayer issues regarding progression and tracking events.

I know that some fans and non-fans have problems with the single-player mode, microtransactions, balancing and the overall practice that propels EA, but with this ongoing problem in the mix, too, doesn’t seem to help at all.
