Ultra Off-Road Simulator 2019: Alaska Launches Feb 13th 2019

If you fell in love with Spintires and you’ve really been craving more off-road simulators to fill out your Steam library, you’ll probably want to keep an eye on IceTorch Interactive’s Ultra Off-Road Simulator 2019: Alaska. The game is due to drop in the first half of 2019 on Steam, specifically February 13th.

The game borrows many of the same mechanics that made Spintires so great, including an open-world sandbox with no limitations, deformable terrain, a full day and night cycle with global illumination, dynamic weather effects that will change the traction of the terrain as well as how well your vehicle will be able to adapt to the wground conditions, and realistic vehicular physics.

Now obviously it’s one thing to talk about what a game will feature, but it’s another thing to actually show it. Thankfully IceTorch rolled out a gameplay trailer that you can check out below.

When it comes to the handling physics, the game seems to take a more realistic approach to the way the vehicles handle and move. While it looks good seeing the vehicles properly scale the environment, the graphics still leave something to be desired. There’s a stark lack of reflective details on the vehicles as they move through the rough terrain. The models are also fairly generic, so if you were hoping for vehicular details on par to the likes of Spintires.

Maybe if the game does well enough we’ll see a sequel where they spend a little more time ironing out the quality of the game and giving it the much needed visual loving that it needs to make it to the next level.

The hook for the game is that you’ll need to get from one side of the map to the other, but you have limited amounts of fuel and supplies. So you’ll have to drive cautiously by either going around certain environmental obstacles or taking the harder route by going through the straight line and risking damaging your vehicle trying to scale giant boulders or moving through dnagerous ravines.
